Hi! My name's Marie, and I'm pursuing a Bachelor of Applied Arts in photojournalism with a minor in multimedia design at Central Michigan University. Currently, I photograph for Central Michigan Life and CMU's College of the Arts and Media.
With Central Michigan Life, I placed 7th in the nation for "Sports Photo" in the Associated Collegiate Press' 2023 Best of Show competition and placed third for "Feature Photo" in the Michigan Press Association's 2023 College Better Newspaper Contest. I was also named CM-Life's visual desk's 2022-23 Sports Photographer of the Year and was Employee of the Week across all desks in September 2023.
Before transferring to CMU, I wrote and photographed for The Agora student newspaper at Monroe County Community College during the 2021-22 academic year. With The Agora, I placed first in "Feature Photo" at the 2023 Michigan Community College Press Association Conference and first in "Sports Feature Photo" at the 2022 Michigan Community College Press Association Conference. I also won MCCC's Excellence in Journalism Award in 2022.
After joining my high school yearbook staff, I quickly found a passion for sports photography. There, I was co-editor-in-chief for two years and a team photographer for Dundee's Men's Basketball program from 2017-20.
I love capturing moments around my hometown and I'm excited to capture more wherever life takes me.
